The inclusion of Melbourne AFL great Nathan Jones wasn’t enough for Portarlington to cause an upset over Ocean Grove at Ron Evans Oval.
The Demons produced their best performance of the season, with Jones kicking two goals, including the first of the match.
However, the Grubbers came out on top, 20.14 (134) to 9.6 (60).
Young big man Kye Annand stood out with seven goals, and star forward James Paterson contributed six.
