SAM Menegola will miss Geelong’s Round 19 clash with Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval under the AFL’s concussion protocols.
The wingman was forced from the field in the first quarter of the Cats’ win over Carlton on Saturday night following a head knock suffered in a tackle by Blue Will Hayes early in the contest.
As a consequence, Hayes was offered a two-week suspension by the AFL’s Match Review Officer for rough conduct.
The incident was assessed as careless conduct, high impact and high contact.
Menegola is likely to be replaced by Brandan Parfitt.
The midfielder, who was due to return from a broken hand to play the Blues, entered the AFL’s health and safety protocol last week after contracting COVID-19.
Young forward Toby Conway (concussion) and Francis Evans (knee) both missed Geelong’s VFL loss to Carlton on Saturday and will have another week to prove their fitness with the Cats having the bye this week.
