Current active COVID cases in Geelong near 3,000

The number of people who currently have COVID in Geelong remains just shy of 3,000 as more than 400 cases continue to be reported every day.

Health Data shows the 7 day rolling average for daily cases is almost 500, while the number of active cases currently sits at 2,978 – down 12 from yesterday’s peak of 2,990 – but is expected to rise again.

Statewide there was more than 10,000 new cases reported, adding to 71,081 active cases. 

Locally, Wyndham Shire and the City of Greater Geelong have the second and third highest number of active cases in their local government areas respectively, while the Borough of Queenscliffe is seeing an easing it numbers, now one in every 86 residents have COVID.

In Geelong, one in every 87 residents is COVID positive, while on the Surf Coast it’s one in every 104 locals.
