East Geelong bounced back from last week’s loss to Bell Post Hill after overcoming arch-rival Thomson at Godfrey Street by 38 points, 13.12 (90) to 8.4 (52).
The Eagles led by as much as 61 points before the Tigers added some respectability to the scoreboard
Recalled to the senior team, recruit Alex McDonald made the most of his opportunity by kicking a game-high three goals.
Coach-in-waiting Tom Cordner-Maas also kicked three goals, with big man Tim McLennan and Ryan Rich starring.
In his 200th open-age game for the club, Brandon Gardiner kicked two goals for the Tigers along with Jackson Macleod.
Steve Salajan and Charley Donohue’s impressive seasons continued.
The loss leaves Thomson needed to beat Bannockburn and Inverleigh and have Geelong West lose to Belmont Lions and Bell Post Hill to snatch fifth spot.
