Geelong and Bellarine Police are teaming up with Neighbourhood Watch, the Lions Club Ocean Grove Barwon Heads and the SES to help make numberplates harder to steal
The free initiative is part of efforts to reduce numberplate thefts, used when committing serious offences such as petrol drive-offs, drug trafficking and burglary.
Anti-theft screws will be fitted free of charge at Leopold’s Gateway Plaza Car Park near Bunnings Warehouse.
Police suggest, along with the anti-theft screws, that you always park your car in a secure place, and stay alert and report the theft of number plates to police as soon as possible.
