Magpies star Jordan De Goey has reportedly knocked back a five year deal to stay at Collingwood due to a clause in the contract
De Goey has been riddled in controversy since being drafted by the club in 2014, including pleading guilty to a charge of harassment after being arrested following a drunken incident at a New York Nightclub last year, and heading to Bali during the team’s mid-season bye this year, and engaged in lewd behaviour with a female patron.
De Goey has also previously been found guilty of drink-driving on a probationary license, driving while suspended, driving while using a mobile phone, failing to display P plates, lying to the club about a hand-injury sustained in a bar fight, and faced an indecent assault charge over a 2015 incident which was eventually dropped.
Collingwood pulled his contract offer when he returned to the country, but after committing to the Pies, De Goey ended up being one of the team’s major players in their finals run.
The new contract reportedly had a clause whereby if De Goey broke rules in the first two years of the deal, the remaining three years would be torn up
St Kilda is reportedly keen on signing the Pie, and if De Goey goes, Collingwood will likely be able to afford to keep prized ruckman Brodie Grundy
