A local Aged Care facility is dealing with a serious COVID outbreak.

There’s reports one wing at Costa House is dealing with at least 20 active cases.

COVID numbers across Geelong, the Surf Coast and Bellarine have dipped slightly, matching predictions the latest wave would peak by Christmas.

However genU, operators of Costa House, has told Geelong Broadcasters despite the escalation of COVID, the health and safety of staff and residents is extremely important

“genU’s COVID-Safe Plan is being implemented to maintain the wellbeing of residents and staff and minimise risk of further infections.”

“Residents who have tested positive have received anti-viral medications and are being treated by their general practitioners, with registered nurses on shift 24 hours a day for monitoring and support.”

“All residents and workers at Costa House are fully vaccinated and are tested regularly. Visitors are also required to adhere to the infection control requirements as outlined in genU’s COVID-Safe Plan and Public Health Unit guidelines.”
