Ruby Roseman-Gannon took out the 2023 Bay Crits title, despite the final day belonging to team-mate Matilda Raynolds.

Raynolds finally taking the extra step to the top of the podium after some near misses in recent years.

Despite missing the final day’s victory, Roseman-Gannon defended her crown, 10th place enough to lock in the win over teammate and triple Commonwealth Games champ Georgia Baker.

The 24-year-old also edged Danielle De Francesco by just one point to claim the Mitchelton Wines sprinters green jersey in a dominant double.

Roseman-Gannon said there was pressure on to defend her crown

“I think sometimes you’ve got the pressure on your shoulders and you just need someone to back yourself. And I know Matilda very well, last year on the last stage of this we rode the bay together and I know how strong she is, what a talented rider, so I backed her all the way and she pulled it off. It’s an amazing day.”

“We had some fun out there. We raced pretty aggressive at the start, which is what split up the bunch a bit, and allowed a move to go. We wanted to make it exciting, so yeah it was really good and the break got away, and the bunch slowed down to nothing and we thought we were going to get pulled for a bit, but great day out there. Amazing race”
