Firefighters responded to two blazes early on Monday morning

A bonfire in Lara was called in just after midnight, with police investigating as the fire, considered a burn-off, was lit during the fire danger period.

CFA and FRV crews also responded to a car fire just after 6 am at the South Barwon Reserve.

A CFA Spokesperson says the car was parked near two trees that also caught fire, and damage was also caused to nearby temporary fencing.

After extinguishing the blaze, firies handed the scene over to Victoria Police.

A spokesperson from Victoria Police confirmed they were looking into the origins of the blaze as well as the car involved

“No one was in the vehicle, which is believed to have been stolen”

“The exact cause of the fire is being investigated but is being treated as suspicious at this stage”
