Moorabool blaze brought under control

A burn off north-west of Geelong has been brought under control after 13 units tackled the blaze on Friday afternoon.

Firies first received a call about the out-of-control blaze on Steiglitz Road just before 1pm, with a CFA spokesperson confirming units from across the region helped extinguish the fire

13 CFA units from Lara, Barrabool, Bannockburn, Geelong, Belmont, Lovely Banks, Stonehaven, Maude, Lethbridge, Highton, Geelong West and Anakie Group attended the scene.”

“The fire was spreading in a westerly direction. Aerial firefighting support has been dispatched to assist ground crews.”

The fire was deemed under control at 2:06pm, with crews remaining on the scene to extinguish the blaze fully.
