The Golden Plains Shire is looking for feedback on a proposed Bike Park for Bannockburn
After community consultation in 2022, a concept design has been released allowing residents to have their say
Key features were chosen because of strong public support from a November consultation survey, and include separate tracks for riders with different skill levels, shaded rest areas, seating, car parking, connecting paths, a bike repair station and a drinking fountain.
The tracks are designed to challenge riders of all skill levels, and include an asphalt pump track for both BMX and MTB racers, and an advanced jump line including a wooden deck drop off start point, and wallride extension.
Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham was excited to see the community feedback come to life in the concept design of the proposed Bannockburn Bike Park.
“Community feedback has been integral in the development of the concept design of the Bannockburn Bike Park, and I thank the community members that took the time to tell us what they wanted to see included as part of the design throughout the consultation process last year.
“Council welcomes residents’ input on the concept design and we look forward to finalising the design with the support of the community.
“The Bannockburn Skate Park is an impressive recreation facility for young people in our Shire and the construction of the proposed bike park will complete the precinct. With a community-supported design, Council can begin to advocate at a State and Federal government level for funding to deliver the proposed bike park.”
